Description
The SAFe® Scrum Master course equips participants with a deep understanding of the Scrum Master role within the context of a SAFe enterprise. Beyond traditional Scrum fundamentals, this course focuses on how the Scrum Master facilitates team events, supports PI (Program Increment) execution, coaches Agile Teams, and helps deliver continuous value within an Agile Release Train (ART). Participants will learn the core competencies needed to act as a servant leader and coach, fostering high-performing teams, improving flow, and promoting relentless improvement. Through practical exercises, SAFe-specific examples, and discussions, attendees will gain the skills to effectively guide their teams in embracing Lean-Agile principles and practices for optimal performance in a scaled environment.
Audience
This course is designed for existing Scrum Masters, aspiring Scrum Masters, team leads, project managers, and anyone interested in fulfilling the Scrum Master role in a SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) environment. It’s also beneficial for SAFe Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Product Owners, and other ART stakeholders who collaborate closely with Scrum Masters.
Objectives
- Articulate the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles and Lean-Agile mindset
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the Scrum Master in a SAFe enterprise
- Facilitate all Scrum events effectively within the context of an Iteration and Program Increment
- Support PI Planning, Iteration execution, and other key SAFe events
- Coach Agile Teams for maximum performance and continuous flow
- Foster a safe, high-trust environment where teams can thrive and continuously improve
- Understand the role of DevOps in enabling continuous delivery within the ART
- Support the implementation of Built-in Quality and inspect and adapt cycles
- Engage with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) and other ART roles to optimize value delivery
Prerequisites
Participants should have a basic understanding of Agile principles and practices. Experience working in a Scrum or Kanban team is helpful but not required. No prior SAFe certification is necessary.
